Xanxia / Wuxia and Cultivation

I’m going to be honest:

I don’t know what these are.

They’re often grouped together with GameLit, and it seems they have at least some things in common. Stories of all three subgenres have the “progression fantasy” tag, and they usually focus on someone getting to OP-levels of power.

As far as I understand, cultivation is the magic system xanxia and wuxia use. But I don’t know much more than that.

Well, qi is often mentioned. And levels are “unlocked” and can be lost? I think?

Basically, I’m adding this post in here because it completes the set. But I really don’t know much about it.
